BRYCE COTTON

American Guard Bryce Cotton (185-G-92, agency: Pensack Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Wildcats, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 26-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, three rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Bullets (#5, 1-2) 88-73. It allowed Wildcats to consolidate first place in the Australian NBL. The season is still on an early stage, but Wildcats already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Cotton had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be Wildcats' top player in his first season with the team. Former Providence College star has very solid stats this year. Cotton is in league's top in points (2nd best: 21.7ppg) and averages impressive 55.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old American Brian Conklin (201-F-89) of Hawks. Conklin had a very good evening with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course Hawks cruised to a 104-93 relatively comfortable win over Taipans (1-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Conklin is a newcomer at Hawks, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.3ppg (#9). He also registered 5.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Hawks' star - former international swingman Todd Blanchfield (200-F/G-91). Blanchfield got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds . He was another key player of Hawks, helping his team with a 104-93 win against Taipans (#4, 1-1). The chances of Hawks not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Blanchfield could try to bring Hawks' a little bit higher in the standings. Blanchfield has individually a great season in Australia. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.3ppg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Josh Boone (208-F-84) of United - 15 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Nathan Sobey (190-G-90) of 36ers - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Andrew Bogut (213-C-84) of Kings - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
7. D.J. Newbill (193-G-92) of Taipans - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
8. Melo Trimble (190-G-95) of Taipans - 28 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Daniel Johnson (212-C/F-88) of 36ers - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Shawn Long (208-F-93) of Breakers - 17 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
