SHAWN LONG

American Shawn Long (208-F-93, agency: Pensack Sports) had a very impressive game in the last round for Breakers and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 25-year old forward had the game-high 32 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Breakers in his team's victory, helping them to beat Taipans (#8, 4-19) 113-106. Breakers maintains the 7th position in Australian NBL. Breakers is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 10-12 record. In the team's last game Long had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Breakers' top player in his first season with the team. University Louisiana at Lafayette graduate has very impressive stats this year. Long is in league's top in points (6th best: 17.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 8.7rpg) and averages solid 1.5bpg and 56.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old American guard Melo Trimble (190-G-95) of Taipans. Trimble impressed basketball fans with 31 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Taipans lost that game 106-113 to slightly higher-ranked Breakers (#7, 10-12). Taipans are still at the very bottom. 19 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Taipans managed to get this year. Trimble is a newcomer at Taipans and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.1ppg (#1). He also recorded 4.3 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Josh Boone (208-F-84) of second-ranked United. Boone scored 19 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of United, leading his team to a 114-91 easy win against the lower-ranked 36ers (#5, 12-12). United needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 14 victories and 8 lost games. Boone has a great season in Australia. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.7rpg (3rd best). He also has 1.6bpg and FGP: 56.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nick Kay (206-C/F-92) of Wildcats - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Andrew Bogut (213-C-84) of Kings - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
6. D.J. Newbill (193-G-92) of Taipans - 32 points and 2 assists
7. Casper Ware (178-PG-90) of United - 25 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Tai Wesley (201-F-86) of Breakers - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists
9. DJ Kennedy (198-F-89) of United - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Cameron Bairstow (206-F-90) of Bullets - 23 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
