Here is the weekly review of the top performing Australian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former University international swingman Xavier Cooks (203-95, college: Winthrop, currently plays in Germany). He led s Oliver Baskets to a victory over the closely-ranked Giessen 46ers (10-10) 101-84 in the German BBL on Sunday night. Cooks was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 13 rebounds. Cooks also added 3 assists in 27 minutes on the court; not bad, considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. s.Oliver Wuerzburg (6-7) is placed fifth in the BBL. Cooks has relatively good stats this year: 10.2ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.7apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 61.9%(52-84) and FT: 66.7% in 18 games he played so far. He played for the Australian university national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international forward Ben Simmons (208-96, college: LSU, currently plays in NBA). Simmons could not help the Philadelphia 76ers (36-20) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance the Philadelphia 76ers (36-20) were defeated 119-107 on the road by the Toronto Raptors. Simmons was the second best scorer with 20 points. He also added 7 boards, passed 6 assists and added 3 steals. Simmons has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 16.9ppg, 9.3rpg, 8.0apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 57.5%(369-642) and FT: 58.9%. Simmons played for the Australian national team in 2014.

   #3. The Australian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U22 international power forward Mangok Mathiang (208-92, college: Louisville, currently plays in Italy). Mathiang was the major contributor in a Vanoli Cremona's victory against the seventh-ranked Virtus Bologna (10-9) 87-70 in the Italian Serie A on Saturday night. He recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds. Vanoli Basket Cremona (12-7) is placed third in the Serie A. This season Mathiang has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 9.7rpg, 2FGP: 62.5%(85-136) and FT: 46.7%. He has a dual citizenship: Australian and South Sudanese. Mathiang played for the Australian U22 national team four years ago.

   #4. Small forward Joe Ingles (203-87, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Phoenix Suns (11-47) crushing them 116-88 in the NBA in Wednesday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and making 11 passes in 34 minutes. The Utah Jazz has 32-24 record this season. It's Ingles' fifth year with the team. Ingles has very impressive stats this year: 11.8ppg, 3.8rpg, 5.0apg and 1.3spg in 56 games. He used to play for the Australian national team back in 2016.

   #5. Former international point guard Joshua Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to a Plymouth Raiders' victory against one of league's weakest teams Scorchers (3-16) 112-98 in the British BBL on Sunday night. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and making the same number of passes. Wilcher also added 6 rebounds and 6 steals in 37 minutes. Plymouth University Raiders (10-10) is placed fifth in the BBL. It's Wilcher's first season with the team. He has very impressive stats this year: 17.4ppg, 3.6rpg, 7.8apg and 1.3spg in 17 games. Wilcher is another player who holds two passports: Australian and British. He used to play for the Australian national team ten years ago.

   #6. Point guard Patrick Mills (183-88, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the San Antonio Spurs (32-26) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Mills' very good performance the San Antonio Spurs (32-26) were crushed 141-102 in Oakland by the Golden State Warriors. He was the top scorer with 16 points. Mills also added 4 passes. Mills is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his seventh year in Spurs' roster. He has reliable stats this season: 9.9ppg, 2.3rpg and 3.1apg. Mills is a former international player as he played for the Australian senior team three years ago.

   #7. Former U18 international forward Marko Deric (206-87, college: Loyola Mary, currently plays in ABA League) was the main contributor in a Dynamic VP's victory against the closely-ranked MZT Skopje (13-6) crushing them 98-75 in the KLS last Thursday. He was the best player in that game. Deric recorded 14 points in a mere 19 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KK Dynamic Vip Pay Beograd (11-8) is placed fourth in the KLS. There are only three games left until the end of the KLS Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Deric's overall stats are: 9.9ppg, 2.3rpg and 3.1apg in 58 games. He used to play for the Australian U18 national team fourteen years ago.

   #8. Forward Duop Reath (211-96, college: LSU, currently plays in ABA League) was not able to secure a victory for FMP (8-11) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Reath's very good performance FMP was edged 87-85 in Zagreb by the second-ranked Cedevita. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Reath also added 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. There are only three games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Reath's total stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.7bpg. He used to play for the Australian university national team back in 2017.

   #9. Former U22 international swingman Keanu Pinder (206-95, college: Arizona, currently plays in Poland) couldn't help Legia (9-10) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Pinder's good performance Legia was defeated 85-78 at home by the second-ranked Asseco Arka. He scored 13 points. Pinder's total stats this season are: 4.8ppg and 2.4rpg. He used to play for the Australian U22 national team four years ago.

   #10. Center Matur Maker (208-98, currently plays in Slovenia) helped Zlatorog win their game against the league leader Helios Suns (12-2) 91-86 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM on Saturday night. Maker had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds in 28 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Zlatorog Lasko (3-10) is placed second in the Liga Nova KBM. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Maker's stats this year are: 11.1ppg, 8.0rpg and 1.7apg in seven games. He is a former U19 international player as three years ago he still played for the Australian national team.

   #11. International guard Matthew Dellavedova (193-90, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Cleveland Cavaliers in their game against the Boston Celtics in the NBA. Dellavedova scored 8 points and added 4 assists in 17 minutes. His team lost 96-103 in the NBA. Dellavedova averaged so far 7.8ppg, 1.8rpg and 3.7apg in 27 games. He plays currently for the Australian national team.

   #12. Former international forward Ryan Broekhoff (197-90, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Dallas Mavericks in their game against the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA. Broekhoff scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. His team were defeated 122-107 in the NBA. Broekhoff's total stats this season are: 3.2ppg and 1.1rpg. He used to play for the Australian national team back in 2016.

   #13. Former international forward Brock Motum (208-90, college: Washington St., currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Anadolu Efes Istanbul in a victory against the 14th-ranked Gran Canaria 93-74 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Motum recorded only 2 points in 5 minutes on the court. This year Motum's total stats are: 7.2ppg and 1.8rpg in 22 games. He used to play for the Australian national team three years ago.

   #14. Former U22 international guard Mirko Djeric (193-95, currently plays in Serbia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marko Deric. But that was another game of his team in Serbian KLS which we would like to mention. Djeric helped Dynamic VP win their game against the 11th-ranked Vrsac 79-62. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Djeric has averaged so far 5.5ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.0apg. He used to play for the Australian U22 national team back in 2015.

   #15. Former U17 international forward Kouat Noi (201-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped TCU win their game against the Iowa State University 92-83 in the NCAA last Saturday. Noi scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 38 minutes. Noi averaged so far 14.8ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.1spg in 19 games. He used to play for the Australian U17 national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Australian passport but never been selected to any of Australian national teams:

   #1. Kyrie Irving (190-G-92, college: Duke, currently plays in NBA) led Boston Celtics to a victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder (36-19) 134-129 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Irving had a double-double by scoring 30 points and making 11 passes. He also added 4 rebounds in 37 minutes. The Boston Celtics have a solid 35-21 record this season. Irving has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 23.6ppg, 4.9rpg, 6.9apg and 1.7spg in 47 games he played so far. Irving is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in Australia.

   #2. Jock Landale (211-C-95, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in ABA League) was the main contributor in Partizan's victory against the closely-ranked Buducnost (13-6) 76-67 in the ABA League last Sunday. Landale was MVP of the game. He recorded 23 points and added 3 assists; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Landale's third season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BC Partizan NiS Beograd (13-6) is placed third in the ABA League. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Landale has relatively good stats this season: 12.1ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1bpg.

   #3. Josh Duinker (209-F/C-89, college: Richmond, currently plays in Japan) could not help Kumamoto Volters (28-11) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the second-placed Kumamoto Volters (28-11) lost 110-118 on the road to the lower-ranked (#4) Fukushima in the West group. Duinker had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 6 assists in 37 minutes. Duinker has very impressive stats this year: 20.0ppg, 10.5rpg and 2.8apg in 30 games. He has a dual citizenship: Dutch and Australian.

   #4. Dominic Gilbert (198-G/F-96, college: UBC, currently plays in ABA League) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Cibona (7-12) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Gilbert's good performance Cibona was defeated 95-91 on the opponent's court by the higher-ranked KK_Zadar (#8). He recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Gilbert's overall stats this season are: 5.3ppg and 2.4rpg.

   #5. Rasmus Bach (193-G, college: Fort Lewis, currently plays in Denmark) was not able to secure a victory for Randers (12-9) in their last game. Despite Bach's very good performance the fifth-placed Randers (12-9) lost 95-108 in Risskov to the leading Bakken in the ProA group. He was the top scorer with 24 points. Bach also added 3 assists and 3 steals in 23 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Bach's stats this year are: 11.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.9apg and 1.7spg in 21 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Australian and Danish.

   #6. Mayan Kiir (206-F-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to S.Florida's victory against the East Carolina University 72-68 in the NCAA in Sunday night's game. Kiir scored 13 points, had 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Kiir's total stats this season are: 5.2ppg and 2.9rpg. He has both Australian and South Sudanese nationalities.

   #7. James Griffin (196-F, currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the University of Hawaii at Hilo (4-5) in their last game. Despite Griffin's very good performance his team lost 63-68 in San Francisco to the Academy of Art. He scored 28 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds in 37 minutes. Griffin has very impressive stats this year: 17.6ppg, 5.1rpg and 2.6apg in 14 games.

   #8. Adam Thosby (198-G/F-91, agency: Players Group, college: Georgia SW, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help Worcester Wolves (1-17) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Thosby's very good performance the bottom-ranked Worcester Wolves was edged 124-123 in Manchester by the higher-ranked Giants (#9). He was the second best scorer with 26 points. Thosby also added 4 rebounds. Thosby averaged so far 12.1ppg, 3.6rpg and 2.1apg. He also holds two passports: Australian and British. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #9. Michael Vigor (206-C/F-90, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help Bristol Acadamy Flyers (7-1) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Vigor's good performance the league leader Bristol Acadamy Flyers was badly defeated 99-82 in Glasgow by the much lower-ranked Rocks (#8). He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Vigor has averaged so far 6.0ppg, 4.3rpg and 2.3apg. He has Scottish and Australian nationalities.

   #10. Jonathan Janssen (206-F-95, college: Cleveland St., currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the Hawaii Pacific University (1-7) in their last game on Monday. Despite Janssen's very good performance his team was defeated 92-85 in a derby game by the Chaminade University. He scored 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Janssen averaged so far 12.4ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.6apg.

C.J. TURNAGE 23-year old swingman C.J. Turnage (201-F/G-95) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Southern T. and receives a Interperformances State League Player of the Week award for round 8. He had a double-double of 31 points and 14 rebounds, while his team crushed W.Adelaide B. (#7, 3-4) with 20-point margin 113-93.
