Nathan Sobey
NATHAN SOBEY

International Guard Nathan Sobey (190-G-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for 36ers, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, five rebounds and nine assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Breakers (#7, 11-15) 114-107. 36ers maintains the 4th position in Australian NBL. 36ers is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 14-13 record. In the team's last game Sobey had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It's his second year at 36ers and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Former University of Wyoming star has very solid stats this year. Sobey is in league's top in points (8th best: 16.5ppg) and averages impressive 53.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American Shawn Long (208-F-93, agency: Pensack Sports) of Breakers. Long had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Breakers lost that game 107-114 to the higher-ranked 36ers (#4, 14-13). Breakers managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 11-15 record. Long is a newcomer at Breakers, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.0ppg (#5). He also registered 9.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Breakers' star - American forward Tai Wesley (201-F-86). Wesley scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was another key player of Breakers, helping his team with a 96-81 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Hawks (#6, 12-15). The chances of Breakers ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Wesley could help Breakers to bring them higher in the standings. Wesley has a very solid season. In 26 games in Australia he scored 14.5ppg. He also has 5.3rpg, 3.6apg, 1.2bpg and FGP: 54.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Andrew Bogut (213-C-84) of Kings - 16 points and 15 rebounds
5. Angus Brandt (208-C-89) of Wildcats - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Finn Delany (198-F-95) of Breakers - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Matt Hodgson (211-C-91) of Bullets - 14 points and 8 rebounds
8. Jerome Randle (175-PG-87) of Kings - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 10 assists
9. Brian Conklin (201-F-89) of Hawks - 20 points and 4 rebounds
10. Daniel Johnson (212-C/F-88) of 36ers - 15 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

State Leagues Round-Up - 3 days ago
The round was exceptionally exciting as eight games ended with a tiny margin. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
