D.J. NEWBILL

Avtodor Saratov (VTB) signed 26-year old American guard D.J. Newbill (193-93kg-92, college: The Pennsylvania State). He started the season at Taipans in Australian NBL league. In 27 games he had 14.6ppg, 4.2rpg, 2.5apg and 1.2spg this season. Newbill ended the last season at Twarde Pierniki (PLK) in Polish league where in 16 games he recorded 12.2ppg, 3.1rpg and 2.9apg. Newbill helped them to make it to the semifinals. But the most of that year he spent at New Zealand Breakers (also in NBL). In 30 games he averaged 13.9ppg, 4.4rpg, 3.3apg and 1.3spg. A very impressive season as he was named to Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL Honorable Mention.
Newbill has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015.
He was voted C-USA All-Freshman Team back in 2011 at his college time.
Newbill has played on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Belgium (Oostende), France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket) and Turkey (Akhisar Bld).
Newbill attended The Pennsylvania State until 2015 and it is his fourth season as a professional player.
He could be described: A tenacious rebounder and defender and a strong scorer with a knack for getting to the foul line, Newbill can also serve as a primary ball-handler if called upon.
