Here is the weekly review of the top performing Australian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international forward Ben Simmons (208-96, college: LSU, currently plays in NBA). Simmons could not help the Philadelphia 76ers (42-25) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his very good performance the Philadelphia 76ers (42-25) were edged 108-107 at home by the Chicago Bulls. Simmons recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 7 assists and 4 steals. Simmons has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.0ppg, 9.2rpg, 7.9apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 56.4%(445-789) and FT: 59.8%. Simmons played for the Australian senior national team five years ago.

Jock Landale

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in ABA League). He led his Serbian team Partizan to a victory over the tenth-ranked Igokea (7-14) 67-57 in the ABA League on Saturday night. Landale was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 11 rebounds. Landale also added 3 assists and 3 blocks in 28 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. BC Partizan NiS Beograd (14-7) is placed fourth in the ABA League. Landale's team will play only one more game in the ABA League Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Landale has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.9apg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 62.8%(86-137), 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 76.1% in 21 games he played so far. He is in the roster of the Australian senior national team.

   #3. The Australian player who performed third best last week abroad was former University international swingman Xavier Cooks (203-95, college: Winthrop, currently plays in Germany). Cooks was the main contributor in a s Oliver Baskets' victory against the league outsider Mitteldeutscher BC (4-18) 84-77 in the German BBL in Saturday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Cooks scored 19 points, grabbed 6 boards, passed 3 assists and added 3 steals; not bad, considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. s.Oliver Wuerzburg (7-9) is placed fifth in the BBL. This season Cooks has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.7apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 60.7%(71-117), 3FGP: 45.7%(21-46) and FT: 66.7%. He played for the Australian university national team two years ago.

   #4. Power forward Mangok Mathiang (208-92, college: Louisville, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Vanoli Cremona's victory against the 11th-ranked Banco di Srd (9-12) 105-100 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Mathiang scored 14 points, grabbed 9 boards, handed out 3 passes and blocked 2 shots in 35 minutes. Vanoli Basket Cremona (14-7) is placed third in the Serie A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Mathiang's first season with the team. He has reliable stats this year: 10.1ppg and 9.6rpg in 21 games. Mathiang has a dual citizenship: Australian and South Sudanese. He is also Australian national team player.

   #5. Former international small forward Joe Ingles (203-87, currently plays in NBA) was not able to help the Utah Jazz (37-28) in their last game on Friday. Despite Ingles' good performance the Utah Jazz (37-28) was defeated 114-104 on their home court in Salt Lake City by the Memphis Grizzlies. He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Ingles also added 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Ingles is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Utah Jazz's roster. This season he has very high stats. Ingles averages: 11.9ppg, 3.9rpg, 5.3apg and 1.3spg. He used to play for the Australian national team three years ago.

Forward Marko Deric (206-87, college: Loyola Mary, currently plays in ABA League) helped his Serbian team Dynamic VP win their game against the league leader Primorska (19-2) 68-58 in the KLS in Thursday night's game. Deric scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 27 minutes. KK Dynamic Vip Pay Beograd (12-9) is placed sixth in the KLS. His team will play only one more game in the KLS Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Deric's stats this year are: 11.9ppg, 3.9rpg, 5.3apg and 1.3spg in 65 games. He is a former U18 international player as he played for the Australian team fourteen years ago.

Former international point guard Patrick Mills (183-88, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in NBA) helped San Antonio Spurs win their game against the Milwaukee Bucks (50-17) 121-114 in the NBA last Sunday. Mills scored 16 points and added 4 passes. The San Antonio Spurs have 38-29 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Mills has been at the team for seven years. His stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.9apg. Mills used to play for the Australian national team three years ago.

   #8. Guard Mirko Djeric (193-95, currently plays in Serbia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marko Deric. But that was another game of his team in Serbian KLS which we would like to mention. Djeric helped Dynamic VP win their game against the 12th-ranked Vojvodina NS (10-15) 99-87. He recorded 11 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in 23 minutes. KK Dynamic Vip Pay Beograd (20-5) is placed second in the KLS. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. This year Djeric's overall stats are: 6.1ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.2apg in 20 games. He used to play for the Australian U22 national team back in 2015.

   #9. Former international swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta, currently plays in Germany) was not able to secure a victory for Crailsheim Merlins (5-17) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Crailsheim Merlins was edged 88-87 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#7) Telekom Baskets. Madgen was the top scorer with 23 points in 31 minutes. Madgen averaged so far 13.9ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.8apg in 20 games. He used to play for the Australian national team five years ago.

Guard Matthew Dellavedova (193-90, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in NBA) helped Cleveland Cavaliers win their game against the Orlando Magic (31-37) 107-93 in the NBA on Sunday night. Dellavedova scored 11 points and added 3 assists. The Cleveland Cavaliers have not so impressive 16-50 record this season. Dellavedova averaged so far 7.3ppg, 1.9rpg and 4.2apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Australian National Team roster.

   #11. International forward Thon Maker (216-97, currently plays in NBA) helped Detroit Pistons win their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves 131-114 in the NBA last Wednesday. Maker scored 10 points. Maker's total stats this season are: 4.6ppg and 3.2rpg. He plays currently for the Australian national team.

   #12. Former international point guard Joshua Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming, currently plays in United Kingdom) was the major contributor in a Plymouth Raiders' victory against one of league's weakest teams Scorchers 108-89 in the British BBL on Sunday night. Wilcher scored 22 points and added 8 passes in 25 minutes. Wilcher has very impressive stats this year: 17.0ppg, 3.3rpg, 7.0apg and 1.3spg in 22 games. He used to play for the Australian national team back in 2009.

   #13. Former U19 international center Matur Maker (208-98, currently plays in Slovenia) helped Zlatorog win their game against the leader Sentjur 76-57 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM last Sunday. He had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 11 rebounds. Maker also added 2 blocks in 22 minutes. Maker averaged so far 11.6ppg, 9.3rpg and 1.6apg in 10 games. He used to play for the Australian U19 national team three years ago.

   #14. International power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine, currently plays in Japan) couldn't help Tokyo Z (15-31) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Johnson's very good performance the fifth-placed Tokyo Z was defeated 75-65 on their home court in Tokyo by the second-ranked Cyberdyne IR in the Central group. He was the top scorer with 21 points. Johnson also added 8 rebounds and dished 4 assists. This season Johnson has very high stats. He averages: 18.3ppg, 10.0rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg. Johnson plays currently for the Australian national team.

   #15. Former U19 international forward Jacob Rigoni (198-98, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Quinnipiac (11-7) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Quinnipiac lost 92-98 in West Long Branch to the Monmouth University. Rigoni scored 30 points (!!!) (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) in 34 minutes. Rigoni averaged so far 10.4ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.3apg in 30 games. He used to play for the Australian U19 national team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Australian passport but never been selected to any of Australian national teams:

   #1. Kyrie Irving (190-G-92, college: Duke, currently plays in NBA) led Boston Celtics to a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers (30-36) 120-107 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Irving scored 30 points (!!!), grabbed 7 rebounds, passed 5 assists and added 2 blocks in 35 minutes. The Boston Celtics have a solid 41-26 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Irving has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 23.5ppg, 4.9rpg, 7.0apg and 1.6spg in 55 games he played so far. Irving is a naturalized American. Strangely he has never played in Australia.

   #2. Dominic Gilbert (198-G/F-96, college: UBC, currently plays in ABA League) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Krka (6-15) crushing them 99-71 in the ABA League in Saturday night's game. Gilbert scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. KK Cibona VIP Zagreb (9-12) is placed sixth in the ABA League. His team will play only one more game in the ABA League Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Gilbert's total stats this season are: 5.3ppg and 2.5rpg.

   #3. Josh Duinker (209-F/C-89, college: Richmond, currently plays in Japan) contributed to a Kumamoto Volters' victory against the fifth-ranked Yamagata (17-29) 88-74 in the Japanese B2 League in Saturday night's game. Duinker had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds (made all of his six free throws) in 28 minutes. Kumamoto Volters (33-13) are placed first in West group. Duinker has very impressive stats this year: 20.3ppg, 10.8rpg and 2.9apg in 35 games. He has a dual citizenship: Dutch and Australian.

   #4. Joseph Lual Acuil (213-F-94, college: Baylor, currently plays in Israel) was the main contributor in H.Galilee's victory against the league outsider Hapoel Kfar Saba (4-17) crushing them 86-65 in the Israeli National League (second division) in Tuesday night's game. Lual Acuil was the top player that evening. He recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 11 rebounds. Lual Acuil also added 3 blocks. Hapoel Upper Galilee Safed (13-9) is placed fourth in the National League. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Lual Acuil has very high stats. He averages: 18.8ppg, 8.0rpg and 2.3bpg. Lual Acuil is another player who holds two passports: Australian and Sudanese.

   #5. Jesse Hunt (201-F-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped E.Washington win their game against the Weber State University (11-9) 80-77 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Hunt had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added 8 assists in 32 minutes. The Eastern Washington University has 12-8 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Hunt plays fourth season for the team. Hunt averaged so far 14.6ppg, 8.9rpg and 3.3apg in 31 games.

   #6. Tony Tolovae (196-G-92, currently plays in Norway) was the major contributor in a Gimle BBK's victory against the seventh-ranked Ammerud Bskt crushing them 117-63 in the Norwegian BLNO last Saturday. He recorded 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) in 23 minutes. Tolovae has very impressive stats this year: 16.1ppg, 4.8rpg, 3.1apg and 1.9spg in 25 games. He has both Australian and New Zealand nationalities.

   #7. Experienced Timothy Kearney (201-F/G-86, currently plays in Sweden) helped BC Lulea win their game against the closely-ranked KFUM Jamtland 99-88 in the Swedish Basketligan on Friday night. Kearney scored 6 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists. His total stats this season are: 3.9ppg and 2.9rpg. Kearney also holds two passports: Australian and Swedish.

   #8. Mason Peatling (203-F-97, currently studies in the States) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jesse Hunt and both played together in the last NCAA game. Peatling helped E.Washington win their game against the Weber State University 80-77. He scored 23 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 28 minutes. Peatling averaged so far 14.6ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.6apg in 19 games.

   #9. Anthony Semerad (196-SF-91, currently plays in Philippines) helped TNT Ka Tropa win their game against the league outsider Blackwater Elite crushing them 127-89 in the Filipino PBA on Saturday night. He scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 14 minutes. This year Semerad's total stats are: 3.8ppg and 3.0rpg in five games.

   #10. Noah Thomas (188-G, is currently at the American university) helped Drake win their game against the Illinois State University 78-62 in the NCAA on Friday night. He scored 13 points and added 5 assists in 26 minutes. This year Thomas' total stats are: 6.7ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.6apg in 33 games.

JALEN ADAMS NBL1 newcomer Hobart Huskies tabbed American guard Jalen Adams (196-82kg). He just graduated from Olivet (NCAA3). In 27 games he averaged impressive 26.2ppg, 10.7rpg and 1.4apg last season. Adams helped them to make it to the final. He contributed to his team making it to the final. He can count that season as a very successful as was awarded All-MIAA Player of the Year, selected to All-MIAA 1st Team and selected to D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region 1st Team.
