Majok Deng
MAJOK DENG

South Sudanese Majok Deng (208-F-93) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Forestville E. and that's him to receive a Interperformances State League Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 30 points and nineteen rebounds, while his team crushed N.Adelaide R. (#6, 2-2) with 23-point margin 105-82. Forestville E. maintains the 2nd position in their group in Australian State League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Forestville E. already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Deng had a remarkable 55.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Forestville E., being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Louisiana at Monroe graduate has very impressive stats this year. Deng is in league's top in points (8th best: 25.3ppg) and averages solid 1.8bpg and 61.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American guard Shaun Stewart (183-G-94) of Mandurah M.. Stewart impressed basketball fans with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Of course he led Mandurah M. to another comfortable win 95-79 over Kalamunda E.S. (1-2) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in SBL. But Mandurah M. managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 9th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 1-2 record. Stewart is a newcomer at Mandurah M. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 34.0ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 6.7rpg and 7.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Novian Cherry (193-G-92) of Eastern M. (#5). Cherry scored 27 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Eastern M., leading his team to a 77-75 win against Sturt S. (#11, 0-5). Eastern M. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Premier League. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 2 lost games. Cherry has a great season in Australia. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 14.0rpg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Anthony Drmic (198-G/F-92) of Southern T. - 35 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Ryan Godfrey (187-G-90) of Rockingham F. - 27 points and 6 assists
6. Kyle Bowen (203-F) of Perth R. - 22 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Gavin Field (202-F/G-89) of Cockburn C. - 22 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Raheem Lemons (196-F-93) of Casey C. - 31 points and 15 rebounds
9. Kevin White (189-G-87) of Manly Warr. - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Corey Standerfer (201-PF-88) of Chelsea G. - 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Interperformances. Interperformances is a full-service agency specializing in the representation of professional athletes the world-over. With more than forty-eight years of experience, INTERPERFORMANCES is well known to all professional teams and clubs. General Managers trust and rely on our opinions and recommendations.
