Here is the weekly review of the top performing Australian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former U22 international guard Mirko Djeric (193-95, currently plays in Serbia). He could not help Dynamic VP (5-5) in their last game. Despite Djeric's very good performance the third-placed Dynamic VP (5-5) was crushed 125-98 on the road by the second-ranked Mega Bemax in the Group B. He was the second best scorer with 27 points. Djeric also added 8 assists in 38 minutes on the court. The Second Stage already ended. This year Djeric averages: 8.1ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.7apg, 2FGP: 41.9%, 3FGP: 38.4% and FT: 71.7% in 32 games he played so far. Former Wollongong Hawks starter played for the Australian U22 national team four years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Mangok Mathiang (208-92, college: Louisville, currently plays in Italy). He led Vanoli Cremona to a victory against the closely-ranked Umana Venezia (20-10) 78-74 in the Italian Serie A last Saturday. Mathiang scored 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Vanoli Basket Cremona (20-10) is placed second in the Serie A. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. It's Mathiang's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 11.1ppg, 10.1rpg, 2FGP: 61.2%(167-273) and FT: 52.8%. Mathiang has a dual citizenship: Australian and South Sudanese. He is in the roster of the Australian senior national team.

   #3. The Australian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Nathan Sobey (190-90, college: Wyoming, currently plays in France). Sobey was not able to help SIG Strasbourg in their game against JDA Dijon (27-7) in the French Jeep ELITE ProA. He scored 8 points and added 3 passes in 15 minutes. SIG Strasbourg lost 85-89 in Dijon to the higher-ranked (#3) JDA Dijon. This year Sobey's overall stats are: 4.5ppg, 1.9apg, 3FGP: 19.4% and FT: 86.7% in 15 games. Ex-Adelaide 36ers player is also a member of the Australian senior national team.

Nick Kay

   #4. Power forward Nick Kay (206-92, college: MSU Denver, currently plays in New Zealand) was the major contributor in Saints' victory against the sixth-ranked Giants (3-8) 82-71 in the New Zealand NBL last Saturday. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds in 34 minutes. Wellington Saints (10-0) are placed first in the NBL. So far his team won all ten games in the Regular Season. Kay has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.7ppg, 8.9rpg, 3.2apg and 1.9spg in 10 games. Kay is also Australian national team player.

   #5. International swingman Cameron Gliddon (197-89, college: Concordia Irvine, currently plays in New Zealand) was not able to secure a victory for Rams (6-3) in their last game. Despite Gliddon's very good performance Rams lost 68-72 in Palmerston North to the lower-ranked (#7) Jets. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Gliddon also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 30 minutes. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. This year Gliddon has relatively solid stats: 13.9ppg, 4.9rpg, 3.5apg and 1.3spg in eight games. He plays currently for the Australian national team.

Swingman Todd Blanchfield (200-91, currently plays in New Zealand) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Rangers (2-9) crushing them 105-82 in the New Zealand NBL last Thursday. Blanchfield scored 14 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists. SIT Zero Fees Southland Sharks (6-5) are placed fifth in the NBL. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. Blanchfield has reliable stats this season: 14.6ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Australian National Team roster.

   #7. An experienced former international center David Andersen (213-80, currently plays in France) is a teammate of previously mentioned Nathan Sobey and both played together in the last French Jeep ELITE ProA game. Andersen couldn't help SIG Strasbourg (20-14) in their game against JDA Dijon (27-7). He cannot count Monday's game as one of the best ones. Andersen scored only 2 points in 4 minutes on the court. SIG Strasbourg lost 85-89 in Dijon to the higher-ranked (#3) JDA Dijon. This year Andersen's total stats are: 4.9ppg and 2.9rpg in 14 games. He used to play for the Australian national team two years ago.

Center Andrew Bogut (213-84, college: Utah, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a Golden State Warriors' victory against the Toronto Raptors (58-24) 109-104 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. Bogut scored 6 points. The Golden State Warriors have a solid 57-25 record this season. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Bogut has averaged so far 3.3ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Australian national team back in 2016.

   #9. International swingman Daniel Grida (195-98, currently plays in New Zealand) couldn't help Giants (3-8) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Giants were defeated 96-92 in New Plymouth by the one of league's weakest teams Mountain Airs (#8). Grida was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 6 rebounds. This season Grida has very high stats. He averages: 16.1ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.5apg. Grida is also in the roster of the Australian national team.

   #10. Forward Rhys Vague (206-96, currently plays in New Zealand) is a teammate of previously mentioned Daniel Grida and both played together in the last New Zealand NBL game. Vague couldn't help Giants (3-8) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Giants lost 92-96 in New Plymouth to the one of league's weakest teams (#8) Mountain Airs. Vague recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 37 minutes. Vague has very impressive stats this year: 16.9ppg, 7.4rpg and 2.7apg in 11 games. He is a former international player as six years ago he still played for the Australian senior national team.

   #11. International guard Jarrad Weeks (185-89, currently plays in New Zealand) is a teammate of previously mentioned Todd Blanchfield and both played together in the last New Zealand NBL game. Weeks helped Sharks win their game against the league outsider Rangers crushing them 105-82. He scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. This season Weeks has very high stats. He averages: 19.7ppg, 3.6rpg, 4.6apg and 1.2spg. Weeks plays currently for the Australian national team.

   #12. International guard Emmett Naar (185-94, college: St.Mary's, CA, currently plays in New Zealand) is a teammate of previously mentioned Cameron Gliddon and both played together in the last New Zealand NBL game. Naar couldn't help Rams in their game against Jets. He scored 9 points in 22 minutes. His team lost 68-72. Naar's stats this year are: 11.2ppg, 3.6rpg and 3.4apg in nine games. He is also in the roster of the Australian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Australian passport but never been selected to any of Australian national teams:

   #1. Dominic Gilbert (198-G/F-96, college: UBC, currently plays in Croatia) led Cibona to a 2-point victory against the closely-ranked Cedevita (13-9) 100-98 in a derby game in the Croatian Premijer Liga in Thursday night's game. He recorded 11 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KK Cibona VIP Zagreb (17-5) is placed second in the Premijer Liga. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Gilbert's total stats this season are: 6.3ppg and 3.0rpg.

   #2. Venkatesha Jois (203-F-93, college: EWU, currently plays in New Zealand) could not help Rangers (2-9) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked Rangers were crushed 105-82 at home by the higher-ranked Sharks (#5). Jois recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks. Jois has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.3ppg, 11.0rpg, 2.2apg and 1.5spg.

   #3. Sunday Dech (196-G-94, college: Barry, currently plays in New Zealand) contributed to Saints' victory against the sixth-ranked Giants (3-8) 82-71 in the New Zealand NBL last Saturday. Dech scored 10 points and had 5 steals in 27 minutes. Wellington Saints (10-0) are placed first in the NBL. So far his team won all ten games in the Regular Season. Dech's stats this year are: 12.0ppg, 4.2rpg, 2.3apg and 2.3spg in 10 games he played so far.

   #4. Jonathan Janssen (206-F-95, college: Hawaii Pacific, currently plays in New Zealand) was not able to help Rams in their game against Jets (2-7) in the New Zealand NBL. Janssen scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Rams were defeated 72-68 on the road by the lower-ranked Jets (#7). It was Rams' first loss after four consecutive victories. Janssen has averaged so far 4.3ppg and 2.6rpg.

   #5. Anthony Semerad (196-SF-91, currently plays in Philippines) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams TNT Ka Tropa (3-1) in their game against Global Port (3-1) in the Filipino PBA. He cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Semerad scored only 3 points in 27 minutes. TNT Ka Tropa was crushed 110-86 in Pasig by the second-ranked Global Port. Semerad has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 3.3rpg in four games.

   #6. Tony Tolovae (196-G-92, currently plays in New Zealand) is a teammate of previously mentioned Jonathan Janssen and both played together in the last New Zealand NBL game. Tolovae couldn't help Rams in their game against Jets. He scored 5 points. His team were defeated 72-68. Tolovae has averaged so far 6.9ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.4apg. He has a dual citizenship: Australian and New Zealand.

In 13 games he averaged impressive 17.0ppg, 3.6rpg, 5.5apg and 1.8spg. He was also selected League Player of the Week.
