Brian Carlwell
The 2021 NBL1 West season will see long-time stalwarts Brian Carlwell (211-C-87, college: SDSU) and Jarrad Prue (198-C-82) return to action after both players sat out the 2020 West Coast Classic following the cancellation of the 2020 SBL season.
Carlwell will head south to join the Mandurah Magic after his 2020 season with the Perth Redbacks did not eventuate due to COVID. He previously played in the SBL for the Cockburn Cougars (2012-13) and Perry Lakes Hawks (2016-19), winning a championship at both clubs - his first with Cockburn in 2012 and his second with Perry Lakes in 2018.
Prue's return to the Lakeside Lightning will be his 16th season in the league and 15th for the club. He holds the league record for most all-time rebounds (7,015 in 384 games) and is a three-time SBL champion and 12-time league rounding leader. At age 39, he will be the oldest player in the NBL1 West in 2021. In addition to his playing duties, Prue will serve as club president of the Lightning in 2021.
The 2021 NBL1 West season is set to get underway on Friday 16 April.
