Big V Round 15 (Regular Season): Pakenham W. beats Bulleen in the most crucial game of the week

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Big V. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Pakenham. Second ranked Warriors faced 4th placed Boomers. Host Warriors (16-4) smashed guests from Bulleen (13-6) 88-65. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Boomers. Pakenham W. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Boomers's 34. Pakenham W. forced 19 Bulleen turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Grace Graham (180, college: UMKC) who scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Eliza Hollingsworth (190-2001, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Jennie Rintala (188-1990, college: S.Dakota St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Warriors have a solid series of three victories in a row. Pakenham W. maintains second place with 16-4 record behind leader Bellarine. Bulleen at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Pakenham W. are looking forward to face Hume City B. (#7) in Tullamarine in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bulleen will play at home against Sunbury J. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Storm delivered the seventeenth victory. This time they crushed 7th ranked Hume City Broncos (7-12) 84-65 in Bellarine. It was a good game for Olivia Virt who led her team to a victory with 28 points and 7 rebounds. Courtney Strait contributed with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Madeline Holland (180, college: SMC) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds for Hume City B.Bellarine maintains first place with 17-3 record. Hume City B. at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Bellarine will play against Wyndham D. (#9) in Werribee in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hume City B. will play on the road against the league's second-placed Pakenham W. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Tullamarine was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Suns (14-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Hume City Broncos (7-12). Suns defeated Hume City Broncos 81-68 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Oliana Squires who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Madeline Holland with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Hume City Broncos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sherbrooke S. moved-up to fourth place. Loser Hume City Broncos keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Sherbrooke S. will meet higher ranked McKinnon C. (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hume City B. will play against the league's second-placed Pakenham W. (#2) and hope to secure a win.

Other games of round 15 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
McKinnon C. crushed Warrnambool in a road game 94-52. Warrandyte V. was smashed by Sunbury J. at home 59-81. Pakenham W. won against Wyndham D. on the opponent's court 94-85. Sherbrooke S. outscored Warrandyte V. in a home game 83-59.

Warrnambool - McKinnon C. 52-94

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Warrnambool (1-18) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Cougars (14-5) 94-52 on Saturday. McKinnon C. dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Warrnambool's 16. McKinnon C. forced 20 Warrnambool turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. McKinnon C. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Romy Price who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Alisha Lewis (170-2001, college: Georgia) helped adding 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Cougars players scored in double figures. Cougars' coach Nathan Geer felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Molly McLaren with 14 points and Jae Leddin scored 11 points. Cougars have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. McKinnon C. moved-up to third place. Warrnambool lost eighteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. McKinnon C. will meet at home Sherbrooke S. (#4) in the next round. Warrnambool will play against Warrandyte V. (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
