Australia rout Philippines in the Division A opener 123-42 in the FIBA U16 Women’s Asia Championship on Monday, September 22, at the Arena Seremban in Malaysia. The Australians dominated from start to finish, leading 33-12 after the first quarter and continuing to widen the gap with consistent scoring in every period. The Filipinas struggled to keep pace, managing just 10 points in each of the final three quarters while Australia showcased its depth and experience. The 81-point rout underscores the steep competition in Division A, where the young Gilas squad will look to gain valuable experience against some of Asia-Pacific’s best teams.
Marianela Fakalata (168-G-2009) led the way with 19 points and Madison Ryan (185-SF-2009) notched 17. Ryanna Roman (170-G-2009) was the only double-digit scorer for Gilas with 10.
