The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Townsville Fire (2-1) in Dandenong on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Southside Flyers (2-1) 89-83. It was a good game for international center Cayla George (193-1989) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. The former international point guard Maddison Rocci (168-1998) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Southside Flyers' coach Kristi Harrower used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) answered with 23 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for Townsville. Southside Flyers is looking forward to face Perth on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Townsville Fire will play against Geelong U. and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Geelong. Perth Lynx (3-0) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging United (1-3) 77-76 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a great evening for American forward Brianna Turner (190-1996, college: Notre Dame) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds. Yemiyah Morris helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American forward Mackenzie Holmes (190-2001, college: Indiana, agency: LBM Management) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Perth Lynx will play against Southside in Dandenong in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. United will play at home against Townsville (#3) to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Adelaide was also quite interesting. Canberra Capitals (1-2) played at the court of Adelaide Lightning (1-2). Adelaide Lightning managed to secure a 8-point victory 73-65 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for Sania Feagin who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kadiatou Sissoko came up with 11 points and 9 rebounds for Canberra in the defeat. Adelaide Lightning will meet at home Sydney (#8) in the next round. Canberra Capitals will play against Bendigo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last two games of round 3 Geelong U. was beaten by Bendigo on the road 62-55. Bendigo won against Sydney on its own court 88-75.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by Isobel Borlase of Bendigo.
