Australia delivered a masterclass performance, demolishing Guam 127-16 in their Group A encounter at Tuanaimato Gym 2 in Samoa. Sitaya Fagan (189-F-2008) (Australia) starred with 17 points, 10 rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes. Reece Anticevic (186-F-2008) (Australia) added 17 points, two rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes. Australia established complete dominance from the opening tip, showcasing exceptional offensive efficiency throughout the contest. The team shot an outstanding 60.87% from the field, converting 56 of their 92 attempts in a clinical display of basketball execution. Their two-point shooting was particularly impressive at 67.14%, with players finding easy looks at the basket consistently throughout the match. The Australian squad demonstrated remarkable depth, with 11 different players contributing to the scoring effort. Sitaya Fagan led the charge with 17 points and 10 rebounds for a comfortable double-double, while Reece Anticevic matched her scoring output with efficient 7-from-10 shooting from the field. Rebecca Donnelly (182-F-2008) chipped in with 16 points, and Andie Jade Smith was exceptional with 14 points on near-perfect 7-from-8 shooting. Australia's ball movement was exemplary, recording 38 assists while committing just eight turnovers. This ball control allowed them to generate high-quality scoring opportunities, with multiple players shooting above 50% from the field. Cheyenne Bobongie (172-G-2008) orchestrated the offence brilliantly, dishing out 12 assists without attempting a single shot, demonstrating the team's unselfish approach. The defensive intensity was equally impressive, as Australia controlled the boards with 61 rebounds while limiting Guam's scoring opportunities. Their defensive pressure forced numerous turnovers and contested shots, contributing to the lopsided scoreline. The team recorded 28 steals and 13 blocks, showcasing their active hands and rim protection. This comprehensive victory highlighted Australia's tournament credentials, with the balanced scoring attack and suffocating defence proving too much for their opponents. The 111-point victory margin reflected the significant gulf in class between the two sides, as Australia's superior athleticism, skill level, and tactical execution were evident throughout the contest.
