It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Townsville Fire. They outrebounded Townsville 46-26 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Chinese center Xu Han (208-1999) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Alex Ciabattoni (183-1994, college: Newman) contributed with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) answered with 15 points and 7 assists for Townsville. Townsville Fire's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Perth Lynx have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Bendigo. Townsville at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Perth are looking forward to face Adelaide (#5) on the road in the next round. Adelaide Lightning did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 94-75 on Sunday. Sania Feagin nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Lauren Nicholson came up with 23 points and 4 assists for Sydney in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelaide maintains fifth place with 4-7 record, which they share with Southside. Sydney lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Adelaide will meet at home higher ranked Perth (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sydney will play against the league's second-placed Townsville (#2) and hope to secure a win.
In the last two games of round 9 Southside was smashed by Canberra on the road 97-71. Southside destroyed Geelong U. on its own court 86-58.
