International Forward Anneli Maley (185-F-1998) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Perth Lynx, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds, while her team outclassed Southside (#4, 10-12) with 32-point margin 111-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Perth Lynx is placed at 2nd position in Australian WNBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Perth will need more victories to improve their 17-5 record. In the team's last game Maley had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. The second best player in last round's games was young American Mackenzie Holmes (190-F-2001, agency: LBM Management) of Geelong United. Holmes had a very good evening with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course United cruised to a 80-73 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Bendigo (#3, 16-6). Geelong U.'s 6th position in the standings has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-15 record. Holmes is a newcomer at Geelong U., but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.2ppg (#2). She also registered 9.5 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Perth's star - international guard Alex Wilson (175-G-1994). Wilson scored 21 points and passed 8 assists. She was another key player of Perth Lynx, helping her team with a 111-79 easy win against #4 ranked Southside in a game of the week. Perth Lynx needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 17 victories and 5 lost games. Wilson has a great season in Australia. After 20 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.8apg (4th best).
