The Regular Season in NBL One just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
The biggest surprise of round 1 in NBL One took place in Morphett Vale where host Tigers crushed Lions 85-63 on Saturday evening. Southern T. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Lions's 24. Southern T. forced 22 C.Districts L. turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by C.Districts L. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Mollie McKendrick (183-1993, college: Boston U.) fired 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Holly Forbes (178-1998, college: UT Martin) chipped in 26 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Grace Stone (180, college: Princeton) produced 19 points for lost side. Lions' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lions will play next round against strong Sturt S. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tigers will try to continue on its current victory against Norwood F. in Marden.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Rockets in Adelaide. Hosts were rolled over by Bearcats 76-53. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Morgan Yaeger (175-1998, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 assists. Chloe Hodges contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Guard Jordyn Freer (176-2001) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds for N.Adelaide R.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bearcats will play against Woodville W. in Flinders Park in the next round. Rockets will play at home against Eastern M. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was played in Mt. Barker where Forestville E. beat host Eastern M. 79-74 on Saturday evening. Samantha Simons stepped up and scored 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Eagles' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Antigonie Sanabria responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Forestville E. will meet at home S.Adelaide P. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Eastern M. will play against N.Adelaide R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last two games of round 1 Woodville W. defeated Norwood F. in Flinders Park 86-81. Sturt S. beat S.Adelaide P. at home 62-52.
