Zoe Zwerling claims Australian Big V weekly honour

American Zoe Zwerling (173-G-1996) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Sherbrooke Suns and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 29-year old guard had a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds, while her team beat Pakenham W. (#9, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 85-75. Thanks to this victory Suns moved-up to the 1st position in Australian Big V. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Sherbrooke S. won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Zwerling had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. She turned to be Suns's top player in her first season with the team. Northeastern University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Zwerling is league's best scorer averaging so far 29.0ppg. Zwerling is in league's top in assists (4th best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 62.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was American forward Madeline Holland (180-F, agency: Crossover Management) of second-ranked Bulleen Boomers. Holland impressed basketball fans with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course she led Boomers to another comfortable win outscoring Warrandyte V. (0-2) 76-55. Her team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Holland is one of the most experienced players at Bulleen and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#6). Her other stats are also decent: 7.0rpg and 3.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Courtney Strait (180-F-1994) of Bellarine Storm (#5). Strait scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. She was a key player of Storm, leading her team to a 86-47 easy win against Hume City B. (#7, 0-1). Bellarine needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Strait has a great season in Australia. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.5ppg (7th best).
