Naturalized American Guard Samantha Whitcomb (178-G-1988) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Rockingham Flames, receiving a Hoops Agents NBL One Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 37-year old player had a double-double of 42 points and 16 rebounds, while her team outclassed Lakeside L. (#4, 2-1) with 28-point margin 107-79. Flames maintains the 9th position in their group in the Australian NBL One. Rockingham F. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Whitcomb had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Flames and it was her first game, where she immediately became new team's leader. Former The University of Washington star has very solid stats this year. Whitcomb is league's best scorer averaging so far 42.0ppg. Whitcomb is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 16.0rpg) and averages impressive 80.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Olivia Pollerd (190-F-2002) of Bendigo Lady Braves. Pollerd had a very good evening with a double-double of 45 points and 11 rebounds. Of course she led Lady Braves to another comfortable win outscoring Geelong U. (0-2) 109-65. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Pollerd is one of the most experienced players at Bendigo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 32.0ppg (#5). She also registered 7.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Bridgette Rettstatt (188-F-1998) of Perry Lakes Hawks (#7). Rettstatt scored 23 points and grabbed 18 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Hawks, leading her team to a 88-62 easy win against Joondalup W. (#10, 0-2). Perry Lakes H. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in West. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Rettstatt has a very solid season. In 2 games in Australia she scored 18.5ppg.
