Alanna Smith joins Wings

Dallas Wings added to their roster 29-year old Australian international forward Alanna Smith (6'4''-1996, college: Stanford) for new 2026 season. She played last summer at Minnesota Lynx. In 49 WNBA games Last season she had 9.3ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.8apg, 1.3spg and 1.8bpg. She helped them to win the Western Conference title and they also made it to the Cup final. A very impressive season as she was voted WNBA Co-Defensive Player of the Year and named to WNBA All-Defensive First Team. The last season she played at Sports Lottery in Chinese league.
In 2019 she was drafted by Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) in first round (8th overall).
The former Stanford University standout is in her eighth season in pro basketball.
Smith has been also a member of the Australian international program for some years. She has regularly played for the Australian senior team since 2017 and previously for the University National Team back in 2017.
Smith also represented Australia at the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) two years ago. During this event she scored an average of 0.5 points per game and had 2.5 rebounds per game.
She is quite experienced player. Her career allowed her to visit four different continents, while she played in five different countries. Smith tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Australia and of course North America. She has played professionally in Australia (Adelaide Lightning and Flames), China, Poland (PolskaStrefaInwestycji Enea Gorzow Wielkopolski), Turkey (Emlak) and other WNBA teams (Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky).
Among many awards she was also selected Eurobasket.com All-Polish EBLK Player of the Year back in 2023.
