Seattle Storm added 23-year-old Australian international guard Jade Melbourne (college: Arizona State) to their roster. She joins fellow Australian player Eziyoda Magbegor. Melbourne recently played for Beijing Great Wall in the Chinese WCBA, where she averaged 13.3ppg, 3.0rpg, and 4.3apg in three games last season. She also has experience playing for Canberra Capitals in the Australian league.
In 2022, she was selected by the Seattle Storm (WNBA) in the third round (33rd overall).
She attended Arizona State and this will be her fourth season in pro basketball.
Melbourne has been a part of the Australian international program for several years. She has played for the Australian senior team since 2021 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2021.
Melbourne also represented Australia at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) two years ago. Melbourne's team won Bronze and she averaged 7 points per game.
She has also played professionally in Australia (Tigers) and between other WNBA team (Washington Mystics).
Between 2022 and 2024, Melbourne's team achieved many awards, including making it to the League Semifinals in 2022. Melbourne herself received the Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Youth Player of the Year award in 2024.
