Squires' double-double lands her Player of the Week award

27-year old American guard Oliana Squires (175-G-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Sherbrooke Suns and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
She had a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Warrnambool (#10, 0-10) with 56-point margin 95-39. It allowed Suns to consolidate first place in the Australian league. Sherbrooke S. have a solid 9-2 record. In the team's last game Squires had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. She just recently signed at Suns, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Montana State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Squires is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.4ppg), assists (5th best: 4.3apg) and averages solid 56.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Tazsa Garrett-Hammett (180-G/F) of Pakenham Warriors. She is American swingman in her first season at Pakenham W.. In the last game Garrett-Hammett recorded an impressive double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Warriors to edge slightly higher-ranked Bellarine (#3, 7-2) by 2 points 70-68. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Pakenham W. consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. Her team's 7-3 record is not bad at all. Garrett-Hammett is one of the most experienced players at Pakenham W. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to Monique Caparello of Hume City Broncos (#6). Caparello scored 20 points. She was a key player of Hume City Broncos, leading her team to a 78-71 win against slightly lower-ranked Warrandyte V. (#8, 3-9). The chances of Hume City B. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Caparello could help Hume City B. to bring them higher in the standings. Caparello has a very solid season. In 7 games in Australia she scored 9.4ppg.
