Date: November 27, 2022
Very expected game when 9th ranked Bullets (3-7) were smashed by first ranked New Zealand Breakers (10-3) in Auckland 116-79 on Sunday. New Zealand Breakers dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Bullets' 30. They outrebounded Bullets 37-23 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. New Zealand Breakers shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American forward Jamaal Brantley (200-1993, college: Cameron) who scored that evening 29 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and New Zealand guard Izayah Mauriohooho-Leafa (188-1996, college: Sacramento St., agency: BIG) supported him with 21 points and 5 assists. Brantley is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 assists by international guard Nathan Sobey (190-1990, college: Wyoming) did not help to save the game for Bullets. The former international guard Tanner Krebs (198-1996, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 19 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. New Zealand Breakers have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-3 record. Loser Bullets keep the ninth place with seven games lost. New Zealand Breakers will meet at home Perth Wildcats (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Bullets will play against JackJumpers and hope to secure a win.
