The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Sydney Flames' (4-9) road victory over 7th ranked Adelaide Lightning (4-10) 81-77 on Thursday. Strangely Adelaide Lightning outrebounded Sydney Flames 46-32 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Jocelyn Willoughby (183-1998, college: Virginia, agency: LBM Management) notched 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the effort and the former international point guard Tiana Mangakahia (168-1995, college: Syracuse) supported her with 16 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds by guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Adelaide Lightning. The former international guard Lauren Mansfield (170-1989, college: Iowa St.) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for lost side. Five Sydney Flames and four Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. Adelaide Lightning's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sydney Flames maintains sixth position with 4-9 record. Loser Adelaide Lightning keeps the seventh place with ten games lost.
