Very expected game when 8th ranked Canberra Capitals (1-15) were defeated on the road by third ranked Bendigo Spirit (11-4) 86-74 on Thursday. Bendigo Spirit outrebounded Canberra Capitals 47-25 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Anneli Maley (187-1998, college: TCU) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Megan McKay (190-1997, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Bendigo Spirit's coach Kennedy Kereama used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Jade Melbourne (176-2002, college: Arizona St.) produced 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and American swingman Rae Burrell (185-2000, college: Tennessee) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Five Bendigo Spirit and four Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. Bendigo Spirit have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Southside. Canberra Capitals lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost.
