Mackay Meteors used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Rockhampton 106-90 on Friday night. Mackay Meteors dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Rockets' 34. Mackay Meteors forced 19 Rockets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Isaac White (188-1998, college: CBU) who scored 40 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Christian Maran chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Five Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Wesley Harris (203-1997, college: Tennessee St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and New Zealand guard Nikau McCullough (190-1997, college: St.Mary's, TX) added 24 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mackay Meteors will meet at home Townsville Heat (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rockets will play against Townsville Heat and hope to get finally their first victory.
