No shocking result in a game when Boomers (2-0) beat Warriors (0-2) in Bulleen 84-74 on Saturday. Boomers forced 21 Warriors turnovers and outrebounded them 44-27 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Catelyn Van Es who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Olivia Bontempelli (179-1993) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. Canadian guard Haille Nickerson (170, college: Memorial) came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Samantha Romanowski (175-1996, college: Denver) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for Warriors in the defeat. Four Boomers and five Warriors players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Boomers will meet at home Jets (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Warriors will play against Hume City Broncos in Tullamarine and look forward to get finally their first victory.
