Everything went according to plan in Alexandria where Sydney City Comets (3-0) outscored Spiders (0-3) 88-56 on Saturday. Sydney City Comets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Spiders' 30. Sydney City Comets forced 27 Spiders turnovers and outrebounded them 44-33 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Johnny Crnogorac (216-1995, college: UTRGV, agency: Haylett Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Ilisia Washington (196, college: Regis Univ.) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Sydney City Comets players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Samoan-Lebanese guard Shareef Saipaia (-1999) who recorded 20 points and Thomas Gillis added 12 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sydney City Comets will meet at home Bankstown Bruins (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Spiders will play against Mustangs in Maitland and hope to get finally their first victory.
