Crusaders used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Canberra 90-81 on Sunday night. Crusaders dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Nationals' 22 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Nationals 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Sara Matthews (174-2002) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Jasmine Forcadilla (173-1997, college: St.Mary's, CA) accounted for 21 points for the winning side. Five Crusaders players scored in double figures. Crusaders' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Lizzy Tonks (173, college: CSUN) came up with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Abby Solway (165-2003, college: S.Georgia Tech) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Nationals in the defeat. Crusaders will meet at home Panthers (#11) in the next round. Nationals will play against Sharks in Sutherland and hope to win that game.
