There was a minor upset when 3rd ranked Townsville Heat (2-1) was defeated on the road by top-ranked Mackay Meteors (2-0) 82-64 on Friday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Mackay Meteors forced 30 Townsville Heat turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Isaac White (188-1998, college: CBU) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals and Haitian center Djery Jean-Baptiste (209-1995, college: UMass) who added 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side power forward Kane Runnalls (206-2004) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and Michael Cedar (190-1986) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mackay Meteors keep a position of league leader, which they share with 8 other teams. Loser Townsville Heat dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Northside W. and Sunbury J.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
