Everything could happen in Kalgoorlie at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Giants and bottom-ranked Magic had identical 0-0 record. This time Giants used a home court advantage and outleveled the opponent from Mandurah 112-67 on Saturday night. Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Magic's 42. Giants forced 23 Magic turnovers and outrebounded them 53-35 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. At the losing side American forward Ray Turner (206-1990, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and guard Kai Daniels (193, college: Regis Univ.) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Giants (1-0) left bottom position moving up to second place, which they share with 11 other teams. Loser Magic still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 15 other teams. Giants will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Magic will play against Slammers (#13) in Bunbury and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
