There was an upset in Hamilton Hill where top-ranked Cougars (0-1) were outplayed by sixth ranked Tigers (1-1) 111-69 on Saturday. Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Cougars' 44. They outrebounded Cougars 55-30 including a 41-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Cougars' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tigers made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Gorjok Gak (211-1996, college: CBU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Hunter Clarke (196-2001, college: Montana) who added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Tigers players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Luke Phillips (208, college: ULM) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Taj Benning (193-1998, college: Fairfield) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with 11 other teams. Loser Cougars still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 15 other teams. Tigers will meet at home Lightning (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cougars will play against the league's second-placed Flames (#2) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
