Very expected game in Brisbane where 10th ranked Meteorettes (1-3) were rolled over by third ranked Capitals (4-1) 92-55 on Friday. Capitals made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Meteorettes turnovers and outrebounded them 49-29 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Capitals looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Abby Cubillo (168-1999) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) and American forward Mia Loyd (181-1994, college: N.Dakota) who added 18 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Denesha Bobongie responded with 7 points and 9 rebounds and Austrian-British forward Ellie Collins (183-1998) scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Capitals have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Meteorettes keep the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with 7 other teams. Capitals will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meteorettes will play against Brisbane Spartans (#15) and hope to win that game.
