There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Tigers (2-3) defeated on the road higher ranked Dandenong Rangers (2-4) 95-82 on Saturday. Strangely Dandenong Rangers outrebounded Tigers 43-30 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Forward Jack Purchase (203-1995, college: Hawaii) notched 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and guard Michael Wearne (188-1996, college: St.Rose, NY) supported him with 17 points and 5 assists. Even 20 points and 7 rebounds by guard Jack Roberts (196-1999, college: SVSU) did not help to save the game for Dandenong Rangers. Power forward Deng Puoch (203-1999) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tigers moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Dandenong Rangers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Cairns M. and N.Adelaide R.. Tigers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dandenong Rangers will play against the league's second-placed Frankston Blues (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
