South West Metro Pirates' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Cairns Marlins (2-4) 75-74. It was a great evening for American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-1991, college: Pittsburgh) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international point guard Kai Woodfall (183-1996, college: MBU) helped adding 18 points. Four South West Metro Pirates players scored in double figures. Guard Ky Stattmann (193-2003, college: Daytona St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Tad Dufelmeier (183-1996, college: CUI) scored 30 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. South West Metro Pirates (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with SW Slammers and SD Spartans. It was Cairns Marlins' third loss in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Dandenong R. and N.Adelaide R.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
