There was an upset when one of their biggest challengers Eagles (4-3) were edged by eighth ranked Warriors (3-4) in Goodwood 74-71 on Saturday. Warriors dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Eagles' 32. Warriors forced 22 Eagles turnovers and outrebounded them 45-26 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Emily Winter notched 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Canadian forward Nicole Fransson (188) supported her with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Warriors' coach used entire bench in such tough game. Even 18 points and 5 assists by Jessica Simons did not help to save the game for Eagles. Madison Freer added 14 points and 4 assists for lost side. Warriors moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Eagles keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Warriors will meet league's leader Sabres in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eagles will play against Flames and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
