Very expected game in Mandurah where bottom-ranked Magic (0-4) was defeated by seventh ranked Redbacks (4-3) 90-81 on Saturday. Redbacks looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-1992, college: Vermont, agency: Elite Basketball Agency) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners and power forward Louis Timms (206-1991, college: WBU) chipped in 26 points and 11 rebounds. Five Redbacks players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Ray Turner (206-1990, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import DeQuan Abrom (188-1996, college: Belm.Abbey) scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Redbacks moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Magic still closes the standings with four games lost. Redbacks will meet Giants (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
