The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Jets' (0-7) road loss to seventh ranked Warriors (2-5) 63-100 on Sunday. Warriors dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Jets' 22. They outrebounded Jets 47-17 including a 36-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Warriors especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Ebony Sans notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Canadian guard Haille Nickerson (170, college: Memorial) supported her with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Five Warriors players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by forward Bianca Babic (183-1994, college: Murray St.) did not help to save the game for Jets. Darcy Saunders added 9 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Warriors moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Melbourne T. and Kilsyth LC. Loser Jets still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Eastern M. and C.Districts L.. Warriors will meet at home league's leader Devils in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jets will play against the league's second-placed Boomers (#2) in Bulleen and hope to get finally their first victory.
