There was a small surprise in Condell Park where ninth ranked Sharks (6-4) outscored 6th ranked Bruins (5-4) 92-67 on Saturday. Sharks made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Sharks outrebounded Bruins 52-33 including a 42-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Olivia White who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Lauren Nicholson (183-1993, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 26 points and 6 assists. Four Sharks players scored in double figures. American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: Interperformances) produced 24 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Kiahna Davis added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Albury LB. Loser Bruins dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Sandringham S. and Maitland M.. Sharks will meet league's second-placed BA CoE in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bruins will play against Panthers (#13) in Penrith and hope to secure a win.
