The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Wanneroo (8-1) in Hamilton Hill on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by leader Cougars (5-0) 84-79. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Wanneroo. It was a great evening for guard Stephanie Gorman (183, college: San Diego) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. Danish swingman Sarah Mortensen (185-1997, college: Villanova) helped adding 20 points and 12 rebounds. Cougars' coach Tyrone Thwaites used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Teige Morrell responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Robbi Ryan (175-1997, college: Arizona St.) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Cougars have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Wanneroo at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with BA CoE. Cougars are looking forward to face Slammers (#13) in Bunbury in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Wanneroo will play against Goldfields G. (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
