Very important is a home loss of third ranked Knox Raiders (6-2) against ninth ranked Sabres (5-4) on Sunday night. Host Knox Raiders were defeated by Sabres in Wantirna South 82-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Knox Raiders. It was a great shooting night for Sabres especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was forward Georgia Pineau (185-1997, college: Boston Coll.) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Klara Wischer (185-1991, college: San Diego) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. Four Sabres players scored in double figures. Sabres' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Alicia Froling (190-1996, college: SMU) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Kiera Rowe (183-1999) added 2 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sabres. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bankstown B. and Maitland M. Loser Knox Raiders dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Sabres will meet at home Thunder (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Knox Raiders will play against Tigers (#15) in Melbourne and hope to secure a win.
