Fourteenth-ranked Meteorettes (2-8) made lots of trouble for first ranked Salties (8-1) in Mackay on Friday. The visitors from Darwin managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. American forward Erin Bollmann (180-1994, college: SEMO) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winners and forward Chelsea Brook (188-1998) chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. Salties' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American center Brittany Reeves (196, college: Mercer) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Davida Dale (180-1997, college: URI) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Salties. Despite that victory Salties went down to second position due to points difference. Meteorettes lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Hume City B. and Goldfields G.. Salties will meet at home Rip City (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Meteorettes will play against Dolphins (#10) and hope to secure a win.
