There was a small surprise in McKinnon where sixth ranked Warriors (4-7) edged 4th placed Cougars (5-6) 63-60 on Saturday. Canadian guard Haille Nickerson (170, college: Memorial) stepped up and scored 25 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners and Ebony Sans chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side Cassie Hill responded with 11 points and 8 rebounds and guard Emily Suckling (168, college: California, PA) scored 14 points. Cougars' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Warriors moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Cougars keep the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Nunawading S. and Hobart C.. Warriors will meet at home higher ranked Suns (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cougars will play against Camberwell in Melbourne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
