No shocking result in a game in Crows Nest where fifth ranked North Bears (9-2) smashed 10th ranked Crusaders (4-9) 107-63 on Saturday. North Bears forced 19 Crusaders turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Madeleine OHehir (179-1997) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 steals for the winners and guard Kate Seebohm (170-1991, college: California, PA) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side center Nicole Hutchins (193, college: New Orleans) responded with 10 points and 8 rebounds and American power forward Rachel Maenpaa (185-1984, college: Indiana St.) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for North Bears. They maintain fifth place with 9-2 record. Crusaders lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. North Bears will meet at home higher ranked Falcons (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Crusaders will play against the league's second-placed BA CoE (#2) in Canberra and hope to secure a win.
