There was a surprise result in Tullamarine where seventh ranked Hume City Broncos (2-8) defeated 3rd placed Suns (7-4) 102-87 on Saturday. Hume City Broncos made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Suns turnovers. Tegan Hindle stepped up and scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Kayonna Lee (185, college: Central Mo.) chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (made all of her twelve free throws !!!). Lee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Hume City Broncos players scored in double figures. At the losing side New Zealand forward Alicia Carline (190-1993, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and American Porsche Poole (175-1989, college: Michigan St.) scored 26 points and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hume City Broncos maintains seventh place with 2-8 record, which they share with Mackay M. and Goldfields G. Loser Suns keep the third position with four games lost. They share it with Frankston B. and Ringwood H.. Hume City Broncos will meet at home Jets (#8) in the next round. Suns will play against Warriors (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
