There was no surprise in Bunbury where 13th ranked Slammers (1-9) were defeated by ninth ranked Lightning (5-7) 87-74 on Saturday. Lightning forced 23 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Joshua Davey (198-2000, college: LCU) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Rowan Mackenzie (190-1999, college: LCU) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Five Lightning players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Buay Tuach (198-1995, college: LMU, agency: Haylett Sports) who recorded 24 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American power forward Clive Weeden (206-1987, college: Dartmouth) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Lightning maintains ninth position with 5-7 record. Slammers lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
