Everything could happen in Wendouree at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Waverley Falcons and their close opponent Ballarat Miners had identical 5-5 record. But Ballarat Miners were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Mount Waverley 108-95 on Saturday night. Waverley Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Tristan Forsyth (208-1998, college: CBU) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (199-1991, college: WSU) chipped in 28 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Waverley Falcons players scored in double figures. Waverley Falcons' coach Elias Palioyiannis used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Tyler Rudolph (198-1996, college: Minot St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and naturalized Greek swingman Nicolas Pozoglou (196-1996, agency: Diamond Sports) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively. Waverley Falcons (6-5) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Sydney C. and Hobart C. Ballarat Miners lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Waverley Falcons will meet higher ranked Knox Raiders (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ballarat Miners will have a break next round.
