There was no surprise in Condell Park where 14th ranked Bankstown Bruins (3-9) were defeated by seventh ranked Falcons (7-4) 66-62 on Saturday. Falcons outrebounded Bankstown Bruins 48-34 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Myles Cherry (203-1998, college: Lafayette) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 20 rebounds. American guard Anthony Gaines (193-1998, college: Siena) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Falcons' coach Peter Astley allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Hayden Blankley (198-2000, college: WT) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Alexander Foster (-1994) added 10 points respectively. Falcons have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Bankstown Bruins dropped to the thirteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Townsville H. and Penrith P.. Falcons will meet at home Bandits (#10) in the next round where they are favorite.
