The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Jets as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Jets smashed 10th ranked Steelers in Sunbury 119-88. They outrebounded Steelers 50-28 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gerald Blackshear (205-1997, college: Detroit) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Ishmael Sanders (188, college: C-N) contributed with 24 points and 5 assists for the winners. Center Russell Permenter (203-1988, college: Providence) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Scott Stone (193-1995, college: St.Cloud St.) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Steelers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Steelers lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with East Perth E.. Steelers will play next round against strong Hume City Broncos trying to get back on the winning streak. Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
