There was no surprise when 12th ranked Redbacks (1-9) lost to eighth ranked Eagles (5-8) in Northbridge 64-77 on Friday. Strangely Redbacks outrebounded Eagles 50-36 including 35 on the defensive glass. Canadian swingman Madison Torresin (183-1996, college: W.Chester) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and Sarah Allen supported her with 20 points. Four Eagles players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) by Dajah Daniel did not help to save the game for Redbacks. The former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-1996) added 10 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Eagles moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Sandringham S. Redbacks lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Eagles will meet at home Lightning (#9) in the next round. Redbacks will play against Senators in Perth and hope to win that game.
