Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Rangers (7-7) outplayed 17th ranked Lady Cobras (3-9) in Dandenong 89-69 on Saturday. Rangers shot 60.3 percent from the field. Rangers had a 26-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Amber Smith (180-1998, college: Missouri) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and center Nyadiew Puoch (189-2004) supported her with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Rangers' coach Larissa Anderson used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points and 4 steals by Nikita Young did not help to save the game for Lady Cobras. Swingman Georgia Booth (174-2003) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rangers have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Rangers went down to tenth position due to points difference. Loser Lady Cobras dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Camberwell and Keilor T.. Rangers will meet Thunder (#16) in the next round where they are favorite. Lady Cobras will play against the league's second-placed Falcons (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
